About this calculator

Estimate how many days it will take to fully dry and restore a water-damaged room based on affected area, water category, and equipment used.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between water categories?

Category 1 is clean water (e.g. a supply line break), Category 2 is grey water with some contamination, and Category 3 is black water with sewage or heavy contaminants requiring longer drying and more sanitation.

How many air movers do I need?

A general rule of thumb is one air mover per 150-300 square feet of affected area, plus at least one dehumidifier for the room.

Why does humidity matter?

Higher ambient humidity slows evaporation, extending drying time even with adequate equipment running.
